About Street Level

A project exploring how homelessness is experienced across Portland — neighborhood by neighborhood.

Street Level documents the lived experiences of homelessness across Portland, through interviews, geographic analysis, and visual data. By combining personal stories with structured data, the project highlights how location shapes the realities of homelessness.

About the Creator

Street Level was created by Aahan Satish as an independent research project focused on understanding how homelessness is experienced across Portland at the neighborhood level.

The Regions of Portland

Street Level organizes interviews into seven regional groupings:

  • Central Core
  • Inner Eastside
  • Outer Eastside
  • North / Northeast
  • South Waterfront
  • Westside Spillover
  • Hidden / Mobile

Each region reflects a different geographic and social environment where experiences of homelessness can vary significantly.
